    Single Malt

Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie - Scottish Barley

Bruichladdich's flagship unpeated single malt release, made with 100% Scottish barley. It's also bottled at a hearty 50% ABV, which is a chunk higher than equivalent releases from almost any other distillery (usually 40-46%). This bottling strength is said to help bring the barley notes to the fore. Head Distiller Adam Hannett works with an ever-increasing range of casks aged alongside Lochindaal as well as changing profiles and varieties of carefully traced barley to put together a refreshing whisky with the signature fruity and floral Bruichladdich house style.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Elegantly sweet with honey'd barley, boiled sweets and orange petals. Wafts of sea air.

    Palate

Red apples and white grapes, with touches of sweet cinnamon and brown sugar. Still softly coastal.

    Finish

Mineral-rich malt, with toffee and more honey.

Smooth creamy whiskey, with hints of toffee

Oh my what a rather nice tasting smooth but not too complex whiskey, it's very pale in colour not quite clear as suggested but a mild golden colour. Its rich on the nose somewhat creamy, vanilla, berry and buttery pastry. Also after a bit some sea salt and black pepper with a hint of toffee. Tastes like malted biscuits, sea salt, vanilla, apple, pear and definitely getting oak in there. Quite a medium to long neck you can tell it's not aged but I didn't mind some citrus hints and the tiniest hint of smoke all in all probably around 80-85 out of 100 mainly as it's not aged but certainly worth the price.

Excellent malt would buy it again

I hadn’t heard of this one and it was a real surprise as it’s one on the better single malts I have tried. Tastes like a very expensive whisky ?

Really good malt for the money

One of my ‘go to’ ones. Really well balanced and smooth. Fruity into spice then a smooth finish keeping the not over peaty or smoky overtones with a slight sweetness/vanilla to it. Cracking dram!

Braw dram well worth the money

Cant find the cinnamon but deffo honey and toffee brown sugar and boiled sweets barley sugar perhaps

    Great dram at great price

Had low expectations but very pleasantly surprised. Great depth and malty coming through, not pester but slight smoke coming through counterbalancing great sweetness. Ignore the bottle, it’s a great dram.
