Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie - Scottish Barley

Bruichladdich's flagship unpeated single malt release, made with 100% Scottish barley. It's also bottled at a hearty 50% ABV, which is a chunk higher than equivalent releases from almost any other distillery (usually 40-46%). This bottling strength is said to help bring the barley notes to the fore. Head Distiller Adam Hannett works with an ever-increasing range of casks aged alongside Lochindaal as well as changing profiles and varieties of carefully traced barley to put together a refreshing whisky with the signature fruity and floral Bruichladdich house style.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Elegantly sweet with honey'd barley, boiled sweets and orange petals. Wafts of sea air.

    Palate

Red apples and white grapes, with touches of sweet cinnamon and brown sugar. Still softly coastal.

    Finish

Mineral-rich malt, with toffee and more honey.

    My favourite

This is most probably my favourite dram. Lovely

If you haven't had the classic laddie then are you even a whisky drinker?

I dont know how anyone could dislike this, no matter if your thing is peated iodine flavours, sherry bombs, fruity speyside's etc. This is just a damn good whisky for whisky enthusiasts but also beginners. Nose: Picnic in a field of blossoming flowers, Whats in your picnic? of course its jaffa cakes, melon ice tea and crunchy bars. Palate: Marmalade its slightly sour (in a good way, like lemon sorbet) but also balanced well with some nice bitterness, then bam that brown sugar, florals and a nice oaky vanilla finish. For the price its a 5/5

    A genuinely unique flavour

The tasting notes are pretty close to perfect for me, I found this to be beautifully clean in a way that reminded me of the also excellent Dalwhinnie 15. Not peated and unlike the preponderance of sherried whiskies this is a genuinely original and distinct flavour profile.

    Very enjoyable

I get apricot and lots of honey. Nothing too aggressive - you could drink it every day. Fantastic whisky.

Better than its aged counterpart. It's something.

Nose: Time is required to split the alcohol. Clean beautifully balanced fruit. Palate: There is some youth in this non ruled palate. Fight past it and what remains is a not unpleasant listlessness that peters nowhere and everywhere. After: Little to say.
