Bruichladdich
Scotland
Single Malt
Bruichladdich's flagship unpeated single malt release, made with 100% Scottish barley. It's also bottled at a hearty 50% ABV, which is a chunk higher than equivalent releases from almost any other distillery (usually 40-46%). This bottling strength is said to help bring the barley notes to the fore. Head Distiller Adam Hannett works with an ever-increasing range of casks aged alongside Lochindaal as well as changing profiles and varieties of carefully traced barley to put together a refreshing whisky with the signature fruity and floral Bruichladdich house style.
Elegantly sweet with honey'd barley, boiled sweets and orange petals. Wafts of sea air.
Red apples and white grapes, with touches of sweet cinnamon and brown sugar. Still softly coastal.
Mineral-rich malt, with toffee and more honey.
Wonderfully coastal on the nose. Crisp and sweet on the palate with a cool and velvety mouth feel. A perfect summer dram.
Only knock from me is that I dont get as much on the nose however the palate/finish more than makes up for it. Starts fruity, gets a little spicy then finishes sweet. Just an amazing scotch for the price... will be a go to for me.
Well i have tried another couple of bruichladdich, the bere barley 2009 and the classic eight. Both fantastic drams and this one didn't let me down. Very fruity and malty. sea air and a hint of smoke. Clean and fresh. The flavours keep coming, they never end...Seems like this distillery know their job. For me one of the best out there...If you are into sherry bombs then this is not for you. This is a different story...Very unique dram..Pure pleasure..magic..
Well done Jim McEwan & co! Nice to experience a non-peated Islay malt. I agree master of malt tasting notes, light body, fruity, toffee, vanilla, cinnamon. Found some on sale & really did enjoy it as it is unlike any malt in my bar!?
I may not know shit about whisky, I'm the gin and coffee lover. But I've tried different spirits and I know what I expect from a good whisky: smooth palate, intresting, complex flavour and aroma and pleasant overall feeling. This Laddie has only one point to it - it's intresting. Not pleasant, not unpleasant - it's just strange. First sip - aggressive and disgusting. Gets better after few. To compare - I've really enjoyed Kinahans Cask Project, very smooth and fruity and much cheaper. Also have good memories of Tokinoka Black, taste profile closer to delicious and complex sweet bourbon. Don't buy a whole bottle until you try it! I also recommend checking out the negative reviews down here, it's a lot of fun to read. Special greetings for Laddie Williams!
