Just 2,958 individually numbered bottles were released. This Brora 30 year old was matured in refill American and European oak casks and was released in September of 2007.
Please note: The presentation tube is carrying a scratch but the all-important liquid is perfect.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Fresher and sweeter than the 2006 release. Citrus, vanilla, stewed fruit, soft peat, farmy. Stemmy and coastal.
Soft diesel notes, cereal sweetness, spicy. Buttery, waxy. Seaweed.
Long, astringent, lots of smoke.
I love Brora and the old Clynelish whiskies - probably my favourite distillery - and think they produced some of the best whiskies in the world, and the '07 30yo was one of the best of the best (probably only rivalled by the '11 32yo). My bottle was #1695. I don't think this release was as 'big' as the previous release, but it was a more rounded whisky. To me this is what a great whisky should be - it has a little bit of everything without any one taste or flavour overly dominating, and was is multi-dimensional - the specific flavours and tastes changing as you proceed to drink it. In other words, a stunning whisky. My only regret is I now only have the tiniest dram left, and the price these bottles are these days, I'll probably never be able to afford it again.
