Launched in 2012 by Allison Parc, collaborating with a French distiller in Cognac, Brenne French Single Malt Whisky is something quite special indeed. It's made with malted barley grown in Cognac, double distilled, then initially matured in Limousin oak casks before enjoying a finishing period in Cognac casks. Each bottle is drawn from a single cask and is bottled at 40% ABV. Rather cool stuff indeed.
Vanilla flowers arrive on the nose first, paired with pear drops and dried mango.
Brandied cherry and red rope liquorice. More vanilla, a hint of cinnamon spiciness and Nutella.
Chocolate raisins, pineapple and coconut ice.

Doing the Whisky Advent Calendar and this was until now the only real miss. The Banana flavour is awful
It's very different and not a bad taste but it is sweet a vanilla flavoured. I would think that the American market would love it but to me, it's not the right taste.
Revolting.
Honestly, this is quite simply delicious. Don't be fooled by the nose, which as others have said is pretty sweet at first - lots of vanilla, caramel, and fruit-forward. Maybe even banana. It's a really beautiful whisky. If you're into extra peat or smoke, this clearly isn't for you. But, if you want something approachable, it's rapidly becoming a favorite in our house. (My wife and her friends LOVE it and have gone through 4 bottles in the past few months! Ironically, she likes it on the rocks, and I love it in an Old Fashioned. Go figure.)
Best new drink I've found in a while. Not to sweet or spicy, and a nice aroma that sticks around.
