Launched in 2012 by Allison Parc, collaborating with a French distiller in Cognac, Brenne French Single Malt Whisky is something quite special indeed. It's made with malted barley grown in Cognac, double distilled, then initially matured in Limousin oak casks before enjoying a finishing period in Cognac casks. Each bottle is drawn from a single cask and is bottled at 40% ABV. Rather cool stuff indeed.
Vanilla flowers arrive on the nose first, paired with pear drops and dried mango.
Brandied cherry and red rope liquorice. More vanilla, a hint of cinnamon spiciness and Nutella.
Chocolate raisins, pineapple and coconut ice.

We had a taster in my hubs whisky advent calender that I bought him this December ( it was fab by the way, he loved it ) and it was one of the most memorable wee drams, very different indeed... soft, delicate with tones of vanilla & honey dew melon, pure nectar! My hubby and I both loved it and thought to buy our whisky loving friend a bottle but! after reading reviews commenting that it’s not really for a true whisky lovers palate we were put off but! surely that’s the fun of experiencing different whiskies? We personally don’t like the peaty antiseptic tasting ones and you’re always going to have your favourites so! I’m now back looking to buy our friend that long overdue bottle...
Has an unusual, aromatic sweetness, which doesn't much appeal to me. But...New Years Eve I suggested a whiskey sour to my sister-in-law, who only likes sweet drinks. I didn't have any bourbon, so I figured, "Why not use the Brenne." It was fantastic. Everybody starting drinking whiskey sours and asking for more, until I ran out of Brenne. I substituted a Speyside scotch, but it just wan't as good as the Brenne. I'm going to get some more.
Coconut, banana. Blah. Might be ok as a mixer
Cough Syrup with a background of vomit... Simply undrinkable.... Please Stop.
Very Disappointing, I really don't know how someone can give it 5 stars, I must have had a dud, flavour and smell are very weak, not pleasant.
