Launched in 2012 by Allison Parc, collaborating with a French distiller in Cognac, Brenne French Single Malt Whisky is something quite special indeed. It's made with malted barley grown in Cognac, double distilled, then initially matured in Limousin oak casks before enjoying a finishing period in Cognac casks. Each bottle is drawn from a single cask and is bottled at 40% ABV. Rather cool stuff indeed.
Vanilla flowers arrive on the nose first, paired with pear drops and dried mango.
Brandied cherry and red rope liquorice. More vanilla, a hint of cinnamon spiciness and Nutella.
Chocolate raisins, pineapple and coconut ice.
Tastes more like a liqueur than a whisky. Can't argue with the foam banana comparisons. Albeit, I'm sure there'll be someone out there who likes it
Very different to your usual whisky but nice. If you're going into this expecting something in particular you may be disappointed as it does have a unique and even sweet taste that is unlike your usual Scotch. Will be adding a bottle to my collection.
Got my sample from drinks by the dram this was horrific worst whisky I’ve ever tried.
Received a dram with my Drinks by the Dram. Reminds me of cheap dessert wine. Not very pleasing
Smells like flowers and foam Bananas. Not pleasant. Really sweet, artificial. Thin an acrid. For the love of whisky, avoid.
