I rarely enjoy such a powerful whiskey, but like any form of gold it hides beneath a dark, acrid pretense. After nosing through an almost chemical introduction, it warms up in the hand nicely, exuding playful but powerful stabs of coconut and vanilla before you are then unexpectedly slapped in the face with rich amaretto biscuits and vine fruits. It builds briefly into a crescendo, then the whole structure breaks down seductively into a delicious fiery frenzy, before kissing you goodbye with a burning brand of maple and a whisp of smoke. A creation like no other, I have already re-ordered a second bottle and will be saving it for a very, very special occasion.
