    Single Malt

Bowmore 18 Year Old 2001 (Release No.11714) - The Stories of Wind & Wave (The Character of Islay Whisky Company)

18 year old single malt here from Islay's brilliant Bowmore Distillery, independently bottled by The Character of Islay Whisky Company for The Stories of Wind & Wave series. Just the thing for showing off the glory of Islay whisky! This one was distilled back in 2001 and then bottled 18 years later at cask strength, with some pretty snazzy bottles.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Cooked autumnal fruit (think blackberries and red apples and you won't be far off), with sooty smoke bringing balance.

    Palate

Mango and papaya brightness juxtaposed by solid oak richness. A hint of perfumed barley tucked away.

    Finish

Soft salinity, with a pinch of paprika spiciness.

    Perfect.

Delicious. I put a dram of this in a customised advent calendar and have no regrets at all! What does a £300 a bottle whiskey taste like? Perfect, that’s what.
