Bowmore Enigma is a 12-year-old expression with a higher proportion of sherry matured whisky than the standard bottling. Bottled for the travel retail market, this is rich with treacly sweetness and dark chocolate.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Sherry, malty toffee, biscuit oats, roast spicy pork.
Heavily sherried with a wisp of wood smoke. Lots of pepper and spice with black treacle sweetness and a hint of dark chocolate.
Short with a white pepper sweetness.
Another easy-drinking Bowmore.

Smokey, rich, earthy. Nice finish
Judging from the reviews, it's definitely an acquired taste. It worked perfectly for me, as the balance of sea salt, iodine & smoke was perfectly balanced by the robust richness of sherry, chocolate and toffee notes. I just wish they would release it everywhere, because I could go through this stuff like beers.
Bought this at a castle we visited. Absolutely delicious. One of the best. A great easy smokey flavor.
Poured one of these just after the Bowmore 12 yo. I will leave it to peace for 15 minutes, initial nose is not too promising. In fact it's awful...There is a some kind of acid medicine like smell which is not pleasant, but thank God that fades away when times ticks. But I can't help still smelling a regular 12 yo that decided to be a sherry bomb at the end, the medicinal smell stays in the background but wouldn't miss it when it wasn't there. Tasting this one is very, very smooth. It's a 40% abv, don't add water, it already lacks punch. Sweet of course, and smokey. At first very smooth and it spices up going around the mouth with a peppery sweetness finish you wouldn't expect. Finish rather short. Value for money is ok, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, wouldn't buy it again, neither would I serve to friends. It's in now way any match for the well known sherry bombs (that come at CS)
I drank this as a nightcap on a recent cruise. Delicious if you like regular 12 year old Bowmore but with a little sherry added. Not as much sherry as the 15 year old but I prefer the balance of this. Got a litre at duty free for £27. An absolute bargain. If you enjoy rhe regular 12 you will enjoy this too.
