The heart of the Bowmore range, the 12 year old exhibits some beautiful coastal notes with a gentle peat, it is the balance that the floral element presents that makes this a great entry bottling for Bowmore.
Coastal smoke and ash soon make way for bergamot, orange zest, lemon slices and some hay before becoming rather floral, heather smoke now competing with the ash.
Lovely and rounded, honeyed even, initially. Vanilla, perfumed smoke and coastal elements develop. Dark Peat. Blossom, oily sweetness.
Smoky and long. Sea spray, dry grass, a touch of ash and citrus.
Classic stuff and the heart of the Bowmore range. Smoky, fruity, coastal, delicious.

Good example of Islay flavor at a reasonable price. More of the floral and sweet character of a decent Speyside than, say, Laphroig, which seems much more to be the essence of peat smoke. ...kind of a poor man's Lagavulin, maybe, with that broader flavor profile above the smoke. I like it at the price.
Usually love this but was very spirity and peatiness almost totally gone half way down the bottle. Can only assume it was a bad batch as bottle only opened 3 weeks and stored correctly
Peaty and Smokey...but not overwhelming at all. Lots of flavors come out as you sip it. Delicious on a fall night by the fire...you can’t go wrong with this at this price. Love this scotch!
Very well balanced. Smooth with some sweetness and soft peated finish. A real easy sipper and will be replaced quickly due to its value for money.
I'm a fan of many of the classic Islay whiskeys-in the below $150 range. Bowmore strikes me as a terrific bargain .Granted, not for the intense peat appreciator, this whiskey is balanced, flavorful, not simple minded and eminently drinkable.I'm amazed at the harsh reviews. I'm not a novice to good whiskey; Bowmore will become standard fare.
