Special Reserve is a lower strength single barrel bourbon from Blanton's. Each bottle is hand-filled, hand-labeled, hand-sealed and individually numbered.
Please Note: Unfortunately, the wax atop these Blanton's bottlings is currently prone to cracking. We're informed that this should be a short term problem, but please be aware when purchasing this tasty bourbon. (Don't worry, the delicious liquid inside won't be affected!)
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Spiced. Grainy sweetness. Buttery, fruity tang.
Light, balanced, gentle spices, toffee. Dried peels.
Spices, medium-length.
Great easy aroma without any ethanol smell.. you can just breath with your nose burried in the glass and you will have no acrid feeling. The taste is smooth, fresh, fruity.. you can really feel the sugary taste and you have no unpleasant aftertaste. I prefer it with one ice cube per each 2cl. For me the Blanton's 40% is the best choice at still reasonable price great for evening with friends or just relaxing and drinking after a hard day... :-)
Seriously though, I'm no connoisseur, and rarely drink Bourbon. But I have to say this is really nice stuff, it doesn't burn and it drinks real smooth. Tastes fantastic and is real well presented. Fantastic stuff.
It tastes like JD without coke, but in a nice bottle with a horse on.
This has a fruity aroma indeed. There's little heat from the alcohol. The flavor has less bite to it when compared to the Hancock's--another single barrel from Buffalo Trace--I tried before it. It is, though, smooth and with no bad qualities, other than it's somewhat bland compared to the Hancock's. The spice in the finish builds some with each sip. Karl
In Kentucky we like a smooth dark silky bourbon that has a sweet finish. Blanton's is famous for this, thus the reason why they have made such an indelible mark on the Kentucky landscape. Worth the price for a cool afternoon in the early fall.
