This eight year old whisky from Blair Athol is the first release from the Concept 8 range. Specialising in the number eight due to its popularity as a lucky number across Asia – the range features single malts from eight different distilleries, with eight casks of eight year old whisky sourced from each! This is a fabulous little sipper that certainly brings plenty of good fortune to the palate.
Sweet syrup flapjacks and peach with a touch of zesty minerality.
Apricot pastries, honeycomb, and citrus blossom balance prickly barley spice.
Creamy vanilla fudge, baking spice, jam tarts, and peppery oak.
My first experience of Blair Athol and pleasant enough. A slight taint on the pleasant oaky nose, belies a satisfying honey themed middle and a sweet medium length finish. Not bad at all and possibly better still at a more robust 43% abv
