Bourbon
Distilled at Blair Athol in 2008, this single malt was left to mature in bourbon hogsheads for 12 years. After a finishing period in first fill Oloroso sherry casks, the whisky was independently bottled up by Murray McDavid for its Benchmark collection. A total of 1,506 bottles was drawn from four casks.
Caramelised nuts, sugared cereal, a touch of vanilla, and sweet dried fruit.
Cakey spices, malt loaf, chocolate Brazil nuts, a whiff of date and oaky vanilla.
Lingering spice, more sweet nuttiness and sherried fruit with creamy oak on the finish.
