    Single Malt

Blair Athol 12 Year Old - Flora and Fauna

A Flora and Fauna release from the Blair Athol distillery, this 12 year old exudes sherry and Christmas pudding notes with spice. Blair Athol does not receive the acclaim it so thoroughly deserves.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Nutty with sherried notes. Gentle oak char. Crisp.

    Palate

Good body, malty and sweet. Citrus and the peels thereof.

    Finish

Toasty oak, syrup. Good sweetness, bittersweet, drying.

    Fantastic whisky

I always said “life’s too short to drink the same whisky twice”. Well I was wrong...

    Very pleasant, very good value

Not too dissimilar to, although more subtle/balanced than, the Glenfarclas 15 which is a favourite of mine. Have had both back to back and the Blair Athol 12 feels better balanced against the Glenfarclas bolder flavour. There's a hint of sherried notes and a very, very slight oily texture but really subtle. Enjoyable and recommended.

I'd probably get it again although it's in the Europa League places or even mid-table rather than Champions League spots. Comfortably Premier League though...

When drunk out of a decent glass I'd agree with the above. I got a hint of banana on the finish on my last sip and a slight hint of the mouth puckering effect of citrus. I think I was allowing it to coat my tongue and the roof of my mouth a little more by this point.

    Great value for money.

Great value for money. Lovely smooth whiskey.

Solid all rounder, very tasty, gone too quickly!

Great stuff. Well balanced with nothing dominating or sitting back. Good sherry character but never too heavy. Complex enough for the discerning drinker yet accessible to all. Wouldn't mind a slightly higher abv but it's still very good and highly recommended so that shouldn't put you off. A very whisky-like whisky if that makes sense!
