    Black Cannon 10 Year Old

Black Cannon brings broody darkness to your glass in the form of a 10-year-old Speyside single malt whisky! Time spent in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks and, one imagines, a healthy dose of spirit caramel, contributes toward a deep, dark hue and plenty of sticky-sweet, fruity depth to delve into.

If you've ever taken a trip to Scotland and visited a few local pubs, you might start to ask yourself whether the regulars even drink whisky? The eagle-eyed among you might be struck by the fact that those upside-down bottles on the optic behind every Scottish pub’s backbar include a near-black liquid with a retro label filled with dark-as-the-night Demerara rum, and then you’ll notice how many folks are drinking it. The numbers are insane. At least they were every time head of whisky Dr. Sam Simmons stepped into the pub, and it's been bugging him for yonks. Surely the most consumed on-trade spirit in Scotland ought to be Scotch whisky, don't you think? Black Cannon is the solution! Sip it, glug it, mix it, share it, enjoy it short or tall. Embrace the darkness.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Toasty with brown sugar and burnt custard, tender and sweet like an overripe plum. Gentle hints of chocolate cherries, buttered malt loaf, and subtle oak.

    Palate

Insane! Is this the same pH as my mouth? It's so soft and... oh sh*t, we're about to say it... "smooth." Buttery fudge, with waves of vanilla balancing fresh cut oak beneath. And another!

    Finish

A warming touch of candied ginger arrives toward the end, while malty sweetness lingers alongside delicate bitterness like great ale or stout.

    Overall

This is new, weird (but wonderful), and is NOT that Glencairn-equipped-armchair expert's single malt Scotch. Bottle looks super rugged, big bad and mean, but inside is a simple, soft and satisfying session whisky.

    Different Strokes

I am no whisky snob or aficionado but when I came in here to buy my second bottle I saw one star (!?) and had to leave a review myself. I drink Jameson, sometimes Redbreast, and Glenfiddich 15. I don’t use fancy nosing glasses. I drink. And this whisky drank soooo well. Two mates came by and we finished the bottle last weekend. That’s a winner in my books, but hey, to each their own.

    Very Poor!

I bought this on the strength of the description and thought it was worth a punt for the price. But offers very little on the first taste and offers nothing at the finish, it almost feels watered down as there is not even a hint of an alcohol sting. Not what I was expecting and very disappointing!

    All colour no taste

After ordering it, eagerly anticipating trying this whisky- definitely the darkest whisky I've bought, (Bowmore Darkest was probably the nearest). Unfortunately neither the dark colour, nor the age or the promising description ( did the tasters at MOM have an off day?) match the taste of this decidedly bland offering, weak enough on first taste, with nothing to note on the finish. There's not much to pick up on the nose either. Frankly, the black colour seems like a gimmick. I like trying new whiskies, and have around a 90 per cent success rate with them. This ranks with the other 10 per cent. Avoid. A total waste of money. A bottle of caramel enhanced blandness of dubious vintage. I've had three slugs of it and I'll drink no more MOM have let themselves down plugging this one. If I could return it, I would
