A classic, first produced during the 1930s. Duncan Taylor took the helm in 2001 and continues to blend Black Bull from equal measures of malt and grain whisky. This is the more recently released 12 year old expression and we're thrilled to announce it picked up a Gold Medal at the 2011 International Wine and Spirit Competition!
Sweetness, cereals, berry fruits, nutty, tangy, spices, cocoa.
Thick and rounded. Nutty and soft with orchard fruits and cream.
Thick and fruity, hint of under-ripe fruits now, creamy.
First time I have tasted. Early evening aperitif. There is a richness, spicy, undertones of dried fruit coupled with long finish. This is 50%, dash of water essential to appreciate this in my view.
Just re-visited this product in the now- Black Opaque Bottle. More "Lowlandish" imop compared to the previous clear bottling.
Just picked this little gal up, just had a little swig. And i must say that i am suprised for the notes that i taste.. This little gal might become a new must have for me, on par with Macleods, glenfiddich and Ballentines.. Not to suprised about the price, for what you pay for it i can only say that it is quite the treat, a really must have
Black Bull 12. This is a blend with lots of malt proportions and from the great Duncan Taylor group. They are one of the top holders of great malts outwith the makers. Lots of toffe and vanilla on nose plus sherried fruit. There is treacle in this along with more fruit, vanilla again and finishing with creamy sherry. Rather nice this and is quite full bodied. Impressive although not cheap. I could get friendly with this. Not keen on the black bottle tho. still its gonna get a 5* rating... struth
Not an unpleasant whisky by any stretch, just a little green and under whelming. Needs at least another 5 years in the cask/s.
