A second edition of Edinburgh-honouring Big Peat! This time, the Islay-whisky-based blended malt has been bottled at 48% ABV, though once again features Big Peat shredding some hot licks on some bagpipes.
Burnt cinnamon rolls (in a good way), earthy smoke and an underlying hint of oily walnut.
Nutmeg and black pepper, with layers of meaty smoke and caramelised sugar.
Grassy and peppery. Lots of peat richness.
Personally I am getting more from blended islay malts, there are some amazing drams.I am a fan of Big Peat and so far I have enjoyed them all.Depending on your pallette,if you are a fan of chewy peppery, phenolic, with lemony undertones you can't go wrong with this!
A delightful dram. Full of Islay charm and character but intensified by the high Strength. Makes it last longer too. Splendid.
