From Benriach's 11th batch of single cask bottlings comes a 20 year old single malt, distilled in 1994 and left to age. Before it was bottled in July 2014, the whisky was transferred over to a tawny port hogshead for finishing. When it was bottled, 276 bottles were produced.
I was lucky enough to have a bottle of this given to me for Christmas. I enjoy different cask expressions. This one is simply stunning. It has the beautiful colour and slightly sweet nose and taste with the rich oak depth you would expect. Hints of Quinta-Ruban for sure, but the cask strength gives this an afterglow that takes this to a whole new level. Would I buy another one if I had £100 for a bottle of whisky......possibly grab the old pulteney 21 after some humming and aarring.
