A recent release from Benriach, Solstice is a peated whisky (unusual for Speyside, perhaps not for Benriach though) which was aged in bourbon barrels before a finish in tawny port pipes. Loads of character in this.

I love this stuff! I had already 2 bottles of this and want to buy my third! Not as good as the Bowmore 16 ltd edition port matured but still a great whisky! Dark red fruits combined with some milk choclate and some peat smoke but it needs a little bit of time in the glass to open up and reveal al the tastes.
