From the Bastille 1789 range (which also includes a blended whisky) comes a French single malt whisky crafted by Master Distiller Jean-Marc Daucourt. It's made with barley grown in the north-east of France, and finished in Limousin oak casks - which you're much more likely to see maturing Cognac than whisky! Subtly sweet with wafts of peat coming through.
A ray of sunshine with floral character to match. Orange rind, vanilla, fresh cut grass. Hints of rose water, elderflower and even fairy floss, but still has highland heat.
Well balanced and round.
Very smooth with a fresh lively aftertaste. Excellent taste.
Tried this Whiskey at my cigar club and was really taken back. You really can taste the barrels, and it's incredibly smooth...Not much burn. Fantastic!
Saw that this one "Whiskies of The World" competition so I had to try. So glad I did. This whisky is a touch peaty, with dedicate notes of french wine... Supposedly they age this whisky in a few types of french wine barrels..
