The small batch Kentucky straight bourbon honours the legacy of Meredith Basil Hayden, Sr., who back in the 1790s was known to use more rye in his mashbill than other distillers. (He's also the chap that Old Grand-Dad bourbon is named after.) Crafted by the great Booker Noe in 1992, Basil Hayden bourbon utilises a similar mashbill as its namesake would have used, with high rye but a lighter take on the style.
Cracked black pepper, rye, and oaky spice. Hints of green pepper, lemon peels, and creamy, zesty lemon curd.
Rice Krispies, toasted cereal progressing to popcorn with gentle marshmallow, custard cream sweetness.
Toasty popcorn with lashings of butter!

Great bourbon , which I highly recommend, very soft and full-bodied with vanilla notes and caramel as well as long finish with light sharpness. A great bourbon to just drink like that and also great for classic mixed drinks like old fashioned or just with coke.
Very delicate, sweet and sensual whiskey. Me and my husband enjoyed with great pleasure, it has a beautiful smell, and each sip releases many flavors. I really like the metal rim and cork in the bottle
This is probably one of the best whiskeys I've tasted. Smooth and really easy to drink. It not too overbearing in flavour but does feel quite strong alcohol wise. Defo buy again.
Absolutely gorgeous bottle that would make a great gift. Love the flavour having tried it neat and on the rocks. Very smooth. Would buy again.
I recently had the pleasure of trying a Basil Hayden Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The aroma was rich and inviting, with notes of sugar, black pepper, and oak. Upon first sip, the flavor was bold and complex, with a delightful sweetness and just the right amount of spice. The finish was long and smooth, leaving a pleasant warmth in my throat. What struck me most about this bourbon was its exceptional balance. The sweetness and spice were perfectly complementary, neither overpowering the other. It was also clear that this whiskey had been aged with care, as the oak notes were present but not overwhelming. Overall, I would highly recommend this Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey to anyone who appreciates a well-crafted, flavorful spirit. It's a perfect sipping whiskey, best enjoyed with a cola mixer or as I prefer it, neat. Cheers!
