Ooh, the second batch of Balvenie Tun 1509 is here! The follow-up to the distillery's incredibly popular Tun 1401 series, Tun 1509 is made with a bigger marrying tun and continues to be absolutely fantastic. For the second batch, they used 32 casks - 23 American oak casks and 9 European oak Sherry casks, and allowed to marry for a few months before being bottled at 50.3% ABV. 8500 bottles were produced in total.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
tried this after distillery tour.deep mahogany in colour, mouth filling with lots of spices and dried fruits.finish is of medium length and warming.looking to buy a bottle.
I think down the road people will appreciate this in the same way they appreciate the 1401
You haven't taken into account auction fees but you can get batch 1 around the original RRP. NAS yes but Batch 1 had whisky distilled in 1970 in it and this one will probably have likewise. David Stewart isn't going to be producing blends for many more years so this could be some of his final work, and it's bloody amazing whisky!
You can get batch 1 at auction for under £200.
batch 1 readily available at auction for under £200. Food for thought. Well, drink.
