This is one of five highly collectible bottlings that make up the first chapter of the Balvenie DCS Compendium - in fact, this is the oldest whisky in Chapter One; a 46 year old single malt Scotch whisky, set aside to age in refill American oak hogshead #7293 on the 11th of June 1968! The Balvenie DCS Compendium is a collection of 25 whiskies curated by the legendary Balvenie Malt Master, David C. Stewart. Each chapter highlights a different aspect of the whisky - Chapter One's theme is 'Distillery Style', and it looks at the sweet, honeyed character of Balvenie's whisky.
Just 68 bottles of this 46 year old 1968 Balvenie have been produced as part of this incredible collection.
Malt and oak mingle with brown sugar, vanilla toffee, candied orange, cinnamon and ginger.
Velvety, with blossom honey, oak vanilla, a touch of citrus and low-key spiciness.
Gentle, lingering waves of vanilla and oak spices.
I have waited for many years to be in the position to afford the finer things in life...and whiskey and cigars are currently where I splash out. Even still, this was an extraordinary purchase. I waited a year or so, before opening the bottle - to celebrate starting a new business. I had the smallest of samples, and it was heavenly, residing myself to waiting for another special occasion to sample properly.... unfortunately left it out after a little sample...and my student daughter took it to one of her house parties. I never saw the bottle again. I’m told it was passed around and people did shots in between beers and wine.
That Gods rain drops were so good I think to get another one .
Gods rain drops
