Like the famous 12 year old expression this Balvenie has been matured in two types of cask, the key difference this has been given an extra five years of cask ageing. A great release for 2012.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed info and/or photos just get in touch!
Warm Acacia honey and green apples on the nose leading to warm winter spices, vanilla and honeysuckle on the palate. The finish is gloriously long with notes of vanilla and honey.
Superb Balvenie, a worthy upgrade to the DW 12. Rare to find these days, worth every penny
one of the best balvenie! Shame it’s discontinued! Get it while theres stock…
Bought at a grocery store in St John. It is fantastic! Went back and they said that was their only bottle so bummed about that.
Hefty price for most of us, but worth every penny if you lash out and get a bottle. There are much more expensive, more mature drams, but this is an exceptional Speyside. Lovely combination of honey, vanilla and slight spice with a hint of oak. If you can afford it, and if it's still available buy and enjoy.
Have just received a bottle of balvenie 17 dooublewood as a gift. When I checked the price, I decided to save it for a special occasion. I will forward a review after I have tasted. Thanks. David
