Like the famous 12 year old expression this Balvenie has been matured in two types of cask, the key difference this has been given an extra five years of cask ageing. A great release for 2012.

Warm Acacia honey and green apples on the nose leading to warm winter spices, vanilla and honeysuckle on the palate. The finish is gloriously long with notes of vanilla and honey.

I 've been sampling five whiskies today. Arran 18, Auchentoshan 21, Bruichladdich 22, Glen Scotia Victoriana. This is the one that keep wanting more of. The way the flavour develops on the palate is wondrous. Wave after delicious wave of chocolate, vanilla, anis, toffee, butterscotch, acacia honey. This has the longest (and most pleasant) finish of any whisky I've tried.
Good whisky. Smells like wood and fruits. Tastes like wood, fruits, and toffee. A liquid sticky toffee pudding.
I've tasted many different kinds of whiskys ? bourbons over the past few months and this one definitely tops the chart! Cheers!
