Like the famous 12 year old expression this Balvenie has been matured in two types of cask, the key difference this has been given an extra five years of cask ageing. A great release for 2012.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed info and/or photos just get in touch!
Warm Acacia honey and green apples on the nose leading to warm winter spices, vanilla and honeysuckle on the palate. The finish is gloriously long with notes of vanilla and honey.

I have many variety of scotch in my collection, however this is one of the best I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. extremely creamy on the pallet, complex flavours of caramel, vanilla, and some dark chocolate that never cease to disappoint. If I could afford to I would buy another ten bottles before its no longer available. the only downside for me is the price tag. Here in BC Canada this bottle fetches $180.
This is a good dram, don't get me wrong. But it seems a bit hollow to me. The 14 Caribbean Cask is more complex and half the price. Otherwise, I would save up a few more dollars and just get the 21 Portwood instead.
This is the first dram from Day One of my whisky advent calendar (an early Xmas present to myself). If this standard is maintained, it's going to be a great December!
Really great whiskey. Smoother and more complex than its younger counterpart. Long, sweet finish. One of the most easily drinkable whiskeys I've ever come across.
I'll miss this when its gone
