A terrific single malt from The Balvenie. This Speysider was initially aged in traditional oak casks before it was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum, imparting some extra sweetness and warmth to the whisky. In fact, to create it, Balvenie malt master David C. Stewart made his very own blend of West Indian rums, filled it into casks, and then eventually replaced the rum in said casks with Balvenie's whisky! The fabulous result is a well-rounded whisky with notes of toffee, fruit and vanilla.
The aroma is rich with notes of tropical fruits, namely passion fruit, and creamy toffee.
Sweet vanilla forms a creamy palate with notes of apples and mangoes with a hint of orange in the background.
The finish lingers with a vanilla-focused character.
Mouth-coating and fruity with superb balance, this is an excellent new release from the chaps at Balvenie.

I really do like a variety when it comes to Scotch Whisky. From peated and smoky. To sweet and smooth. This is a top form Whisky for what it is. It's always stocked. And there has never been one person I've had taste not say "wow that is great". Good price. A bit more than their double cask. But worth it.
this is one you need to roll around in your mouth to get the full palette. it's soft yet complex, smooth yet a medium to long finish. mature but still young and playful, reserved!
The notes and tastes are subtle but complex. Got this as a gift, simply one of the best. The price and quality are unparalleled. It can be appreciated by both beginners and experts. Please do NOT dilute with ice. Served neat only way to go!
What a lovely surprise at our home, with friends, while sampling and pairing food and spirits. Smooth and delicious with plenty of character, this 14 year old rum touched Speyside was special. Nicely bodied. Pineapple cubes to follow, along with the chill December air, was an unexpected treat.
I recently sampled this with a friend at a private tasting event. wow!!! I was blown away. This is an amazing and ultra smooth scotch.
