A terrific single malt from The Balvenie. This Speysider was initially aged in traditional oak casks before it was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum, imparting some extra sweetness and warmth to the whisky. In fact, to create it, Balvenie malt master David C. Stewart made his very own blend of West Indian rums, filled it into casks, and then eventually replaced the rum in said casks with Balvenie's whisky! The fabulous result is a well-rounded whisky with notes of toffee, fruit and vanilla.
The aroma is rich with notes of tropical fruits, namely passion fruit, and creamy toffee.
Sweet vanilla forms a creamy palate with notes of apples and mangoes with a hint of orange in the background.
The finish lingers with a vanilla-focused character.
Mouth-coating and fruity with superb balance, this is an excellent new release from the chaps at Balvenie.

I received it as a gift.....and it is truly wonderful! Not a scotch drinker but this bottle is one of the best whiskeys I've ever had....will definitely keep it in my cupboard from here on
This is one I haven't bought because $80 seems a little expensive for a 14 year but I got this as a gift recently and I am definitely enjoying it. Very creamy with lots of tropical fruits like coconut, mango and banana good finish as well I just wish it were a little stronger. Still pretty happy with it but I think I like the 12 year single barrel more. The Sugarbear
Amateur scotch aficionado, this bottle is awesome. You can definitely taste some rum, nose is mellow creamy toffee, palate is medium pear with with some vanilla hints and finish is toasty rum.
Solid. I love the finish and lingering spice on the tongue that makes you want more.
I hated Scotch... Until I tasted this. Now, nothing compares. Yes. It is that good.
