A terrific single malt from The Balvenie. This Speysider was initially aged in traditional oak casks before it was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum, imparting some extra sweetness and warmth to the whisky. In fact, to create it, Balvenie malt master David C. Stewart made his very own blend of West Indian rums, filled it into casks, and then eventually replaced the rum in said casks with Balvenie's whisky! The fabulous result is a well-rounded whisky with notes of toffee, fruit and vanilla.
The aroma is rich with notes of tropical fruits, namely passion fruit, and creamy toffee.
Sweet vanilla forms a creamy palate with notes of apples and mangoes with a hint of orange in the background.
The finish lingers with a vanilla focussed character.
Mouth-coating and fruity with superb balance, this is an excellent new release from the chaps at Balvenie.

Had a few in Edinburgh last week and I was well impressed. The toffee notes and sweetness was perfect for me. I added a very small amount of water. Looking forward to you getting it back in stock. The double wood is also nice if you can’t this this one.
Personally, as a neat whiskey drinker, this really only becomes palatable with a few drops of water in it to mix with the oils. Positive reviews have to be over ice drinkers? Not for me.
Maybe it's just me, but can't get the tasty notes delivered in my palate and specially my tongue. Seemed spicy but that's all. I won't buy anymore whiskies with "caribbean touch" as it doesn't seem to be my thing
This is a great whisky to sit down with and enjoy a good book.
Incredibly smooth and drinkable drinkable but warm as it goes down. I love scotch, and I love a good sipping rum too, so it was a delight to savour the rum cask influence here. Excellent, I will be buying another bottle.
