A terrific single malt from The Balvenie. This Speysider was initially aged in traditional oak casks before it was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum, imparting some extra sweetness and warmth to the whisky. In fact, to create it, Balvenie malt master David C. Stewart made his very own blend of West Indian rums, filled it into casks, and then eventually replaced the rum in said casks with Balvenie's whisky! The fabulous result is a well-rounded whisky with notes of toffee, fruit and vanilla.
The aroma is rich with notes of tropical fruits, namely passion fruit, and creamy toffee.
Sweet vanilla forms a creamy palate with notes of apples and mangoes with a hint of orange in the background.
The finish lingers with a vanilla-focused character.
Mouth-coating and fruity with superb balance, this is an excellent new release from the chaps at Balvenie.

Most notably the pleasant aroma which accentuates the taste makes this a fine selection. Indeed an exciting whisky and at the price point is well worth it.
I have only recently started drinking scotch and never even dreamed I would enjoy it. I have tried a lot of different single malt and this one is by far my personal favorite. I like it even more than a lot of the higher priced ones. Excellent! You won't be disappointed.
1st enjoyed this whilst staying at Cameron House, Loch Lomond 2 years ago and now always have a bottle in the house. Not a traditional taste but very smooth and drinkable - great value and a lovely drop!
Nose is full of surprises and when you take that sip it is extremely delicious. A little water helps bring out some of the other run flavors hidden in this wonderful dram. Must say this is a very nice expression.
Amazingly smooth with vanilla being a great finish. Haven't been able to beat it for the price
