A terrific single malt from The Balvenie. This Speysider was initially aged in traditional oak casks before it was finished in casks which previously held Caribbean rum, imparting some extra sweetness and warmth to the whisky. In fact, to create it, Balvenie malt master David C. Stewart made his very own blend of West Indian rums, filled it into casks, and then eventually replaced the rum in said casks with Balvenie's whisky! The fabulous result is a well-rounded whisky with notes of toffee, fruit and vanilla.
The aroma is rich with notes of tropical fruits, namely passion fruit, and creamy toffee.
Sweet vanilla forms a creamy palate with notes of apples and mangoes with a hint of orange in the background.
The finish lingers with a vanilla focussed character.
Mouth-coating and fruity with superb balance, this is an excellent new release from the chaps at Balvenie.

Continuously a stand out in the Balvenie range, beats the double wood and the peat week editions. For it's price it's a great dram. One I've bought time and again, the caramel sweetness in the Caribbean flavours compliment the speyside malt perfectly. Get on it!
I wish i could give master of malt six stars the customer service is second to none you can buy with total confidence you will definately be looked after. In fact you could walk 500 miles and then walk 500 more you wouldnt find a site like this ??
If you are trialing whiskys to find your taste, this bottle is a must. It is a easy drink with great tasting notes, sweet with a subtle smoke. It wont break the bank and holds an elegant place on the shelf
Nice on the nose, warm on the heart and tingling on the lips. Highly recommend
Perhaps the rum was not such a great idea. Other Balvenies that I have tasted have always been very smooth but this one is a little too fiery for me.
