The 12-year-old expression in Balvenie's travel retail Triple Cask range is made with whisky matured in three different types of cask, namely first-fill American oak barrels, traditional refill casks, and first-fill oloroso sherry butts. Following the maturation, the whisky is married together to create a cohesive, flavoursome expression packed with orchard fruit, custard cream, and cinnamon spice.

Tasted it neat as sample at HKIA and liked it such that got my wife to also taste despite not being into whisky. It is a mouthfull yet smooth, leaves the tounge yearning for more. I bought the bottle and have since drank it neat. It's the whisky I measure all other whisky's againts and so far its my personal winner.
Tasting notes are spot on and be assured, this is a great whiskey, however Arran 10 and 14 offer arguably equal flavour for half the price hence 4 stars. If this was £40 ish I'd be 5 starring it all the way.
I like much Highland Park 18 y. but I had chance to try Balvenie 12y. triple cask it is wonderful fool spices and end of tong the like a small dot of peat keeps the mouth and mind willing to repeat.
nephew brought this to me from china duty free..........absolutely wonderful stuff!!!!
