Ballantines Finest whisky was Jim Murray's No Age Statement Blend of the Year with a whopping 96 points! The critic seems to have a real penchant for the brand, awarding the 17 year old expression a similar score. Ballantines Finest is a great all-rounder - easy-going and very flavoursome. A classic blend.
Expressive, crisp barley sugars. Touch of wood smoke, toffee.
Rich and sweet. Barley and caramel, very gentle peat.
Soft and sweet, fudge.
Really awesome tast smooth, fruity, feeling like awesome on the palate. I really enjoyed the ballentains
Stuck in lockdown with 2 fairly hefty bottles of Islay malt so I bought a bottle of Ballantines Finest to bring some variety as I had seen it advertised recently in an airport and wondered, as you do. I really like it as an alternative for an easy drink. Straight with a small dash of water it is sweet but has an overall creaminess I associate with Jura 10 y o in particular, £15 a bottle and it wont be the last. Very good, I like it!
Bought a bottle of this for £15 and an absolute bargain. I’ve tried a few blends and this is up there with the JWB and I’d put it ahead of Monkey shoulder.
Not the worst one, just a simple budget whisky but not for neat drinking. I get too much alcohol taste. It may be good with some ice or blended with other stuff but that is not how I like my whisky.
I don't mind the taste but it's got something that hurts my stomach at the first sip.
