Ballantines Finest whisky was Jim Murray's No Age Statement Blend of the Year with a whopping 96 points! The critic seems to have a real penchant for the brand, awarding the 17 year old expression a similar score. Ballantines Finest is a great all-rounder - easy-going and very flavoursome. A classic blend.
Expressive, crisp barley sugars. Touch of wood smoke, toffee.
Rich and sweet. Barley and caramel, very gentle peat.
Soft and sweet, fudge.

Have drank this in the US and the UK - the UK version
A Great whisky. Just love it.
Nose : Green Apples, Vanilla Sweetness, Barley Sugar, little whiffs of Alcohol Palate : some Sweetness, unpleasant Alcohol Finish : very Short
At $13 a bottle I didn't expect much. It costs as much as Jim Beam white label and like Jim Beam it is best enjoyed on the rocks with Coke or Pepsi. I just compared this to my 12 year old $55 Scotch and a $40 10 year old and the difference is night and day. But at that price it's still a compelling option.
