A very interesting single malt American whisky from Texas, this was distilled at Balcones and was "yard-aged" in ex-bourbon American oak before bottling. Expect huge flavours from this one...
Freshly baked banana bread with undertones of honey and vanilla and just the faintest hint of cedar wood at the back. Suggestions of roasted chestnuts and heavy cream.
Ester-y with apple and orchard fruits. Brown sugar makes an appearance and transforms into molasses.
Warm, woody spices and some breadiness, but not necessarily maltiness, completes this luscious single malt.
knew about the hype and about Tate's demise.. looked for something that was barreled in 2015.. found one and amazed.. solid flavor and noticeable smoothness.. felt a bit of bourbon and a tiny bit spicy..
Yes , I said it after drinking Mac10,12,18 and many more others.. Can't wait until Chip starts his own shop again..
A strong whiskey just served on the rocks which doesn't blow your head off, great on the palate and a smooth finish, even my wife like it straight up.
Egad. The flavour that's packed into this is simply unreal. Watch out Scotland.
not sure if post-Tate products will be as good.. i'm stocking up the ones that he made (pre-2015).. they are just so good.. amazing combination of flavor and balance and creaminess..
