A very interesting single malt American whisky from Texas, this was distilled at Balcones and was "yard-aged" in ex-bourbon American oak before bottling. Expect huge flavours from this one...
Freshly baked banana bread with undertones of honey and vanilla and just the faintest hint of cedar wood at the back. Suggestions of roasted chestnuts and heavy cream.
Ester-y with apple and orchard fruits. Brown sugar makes an appearance and transforms into molasses.
Warm, woody spices and some breadiness, but not necessarily maltiness, completes this luscious single malt.

Not one of the traditional glens you can get from Scotland. No heavy woody taste but great with buttery flavors almost butterscotch, and a really good finish. Probably the best single malt whiskey I have ever tasted. Chip Tate is a genius.
Balance between peatiness and smooth/sweet flavor is just so impressive! Great Texan!
Balance between the peatiness and smooth/sweetness.. so so impressive w this Texan!
It's more like a bourbon than a scotch. But really more than that, it tastes like a good ole' Texas Whiskey :)
does this most resemble a Scottish malt or a bourbon please?
