This is an extraordinarily rare Balblair from our very own Lost Bottlings Series - a range of whiskies from a bygone era of whisky production. This was distilled in 1964 before a 35 year maturation. It was bottled at cask-strength in August 1999 and it offers up a hugely zesty, malty flavour.
Sweet vanilla and cracked black pepper. Hints of freshly baked bread, cookie dough ice cream and seed cake. More than a hint of lemon juice too.
Lemon drizzle cake and fresh zest too. A lovely malty core provides a solid backbone for this medium-bodied dram. Baking spices appear.
Long finish with creamy vanilla, parma violets, bourbon barrel char and firm oak.
Not as full-bodied as some of the other whiskies in the range, this Balblair is a lighter, more fragrant malt. Delicious.
