Balblair 25 Year Old Bottling Note
A fantastically full bodied Balblair, which has seen a quarter of a century of ageing. The Highlander was initially matured in American oak bourbon casks, before it was then transferred for a second ageing period in Spanish oak butts. The single malt was finally bottled at the age of 25 years at 46% ABV, sporting all those delicious characteristic Balblair notes of orange and apricot.

Nose: Indulgent overripe apricots and dark liquorice stand out against polished oak and a touch of saddle wax.
Palate: Full-bodied with oily citrus, chocolate praline and a faint note of fresh tobacco leaf.

Very nice.
I got gifted a decanter of this when I got married in 2007 from a friend who works at a distillery. I decided to opened it on 14/8/2021. I only started drinking whisky a couple of years ago. I didn’t know what whisky the decanter contained, it was engraved only with wedding details. I then decided to ask my friend if she could remember what was in it & she sure could. Glad I didn’t put anything in it, didn’t need it. It was very nice. A bit overpriced though in my opinion though, even with £40 off.

All is not lost Balblair, we still love you!
Offered at £385 (£100 off) for three days, 0% claimed. Says it all. I hope Balblair can eat humble pie as I would certainly like our relationship to return to where it was before they got all premium and snubbed their loyal fan base!

It's probably still very good whisky but at four times the price of the old 1991 26 year old I'm unlikely to ever try it.
