Balblair 1973 - Private Collection (Gordon and MacPhail)
A 1973 'vintage' Balblair from Gordon and MacPhail's Private Collection. From an outturn of but 385 bottles, this single malt was aged in sherry casks and pertains rich coffee and oak notes.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Lots of wood and alluring sherry on the nose, sultanas and juicy raisins at the fore, with a little sweetness. The palate is rich and chewy. The sherry has become something altogether more sumptuous, a sweetness brings with it a lovely spiciness, dried fruits and sugared peels. The finish is full and long and quite dry. A prevalence of espresso coffee and roasted Robusta beans and a little cocoa dusting on the tail.
