Aultmore 13 Year Old 2009 (batch 23/065) - Connoisseurs Choice (Gordon & MacPhail)
13-year-old single malt from Aultmore, distilled in 2009 and initially matured in a refill bourbon barrel, before spending three years finishing in a St Joseph red wine cask. The result is a rich, fruity sipper, packed with currants and berries alongside rich, chocolatey malt. The cask was opened by Gordon & MacPhail in 2023, independently releasing a total of 2,034 bottles for its Connoisseurs Choice collection.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Sweet layers of orchard fruits and red berries open the way for butterscotch and biscuity malt.
Palate
Zesty notes of candied orange and tangy redcurrant are backed by charred oak and toasted marzipan, with sweet barley and cocoa in tow.
Finish
Jammy fruit and sweet baking spice linger, with a touch of ginger and a pinch of pepper.
