You don't often see single malt whisky from Auchroisk (it's pronounced 'Othrusk'), but thanks to That Boutique-y Whisky Company, who independently bottled this beauty, you can experience its joys for yourself! If that's not enough incentive, there's literally a zombie apocalypse on the label. Which is badass, people.
Batch 5 is a release of 346 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Summer berries, dried grass and waxy orange peels, with a little vanilla and sponge cake.
Punchy peppercorn crackles through oily nutty malt and fresh floral notes. Caramel and orchard fruit form in the backdrop.
More brown apples and a hint of polished wood remains.

Bought this off the back of buy the rather delicious Auchroisk 10 year F&F. This somehow tastes a little less mature that the 10 year official bottling. Perhaps the cask used here was a little tired. Not bad. I enjoyed doing some DIY blending between the two. Wouldn’t buy again but certainly would the official F&F version of the price was right. 3/5.
Perfect for summertime sipping in the garden. Lovely oily mouthfeel and perfect with a touch of water to open it up.
