Single Malt
Murray McDavid
Auchroisk single malt, independently bottled by Murray McDavid for its Cask Craft series. This one was treated to a finish in a bourbon quarter cask from the Koval distillery, imparting buttery notes of caramel, vanilla, and sweet spice to the zesty, nutty malt.
Honeyed flapjack, vanilla butterscotch, and mellow, buttery oak.
Vanilla and honey lead the way, backed by zesty green apple and candied mango.
Waves of tropical fruit and creamy barley linger, with toasted oak, vanilla fudge, and just a smidge of pepper.
Really very nice indeed. OK, it's a NAS and doesn't say anything about being ncf and natural colour - but it is exactly what it says on the bottle - creamy and sweet but not cloyingly so. The tasting notes above a spot on. To be honest, I've never had a poor Auchroisk - the spirit is so good you could probably mature it in a welly boot and it would still taste mighty fine. This one is a fine summer sipper.
