A Lowland single malt matured in 3 different casks, namely: Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks, bourbon casks and Oloroso Sherry casks. A distinctive triple distilled whisky from Auchentoshan.
Cooked fruit, sherry, toffee, a rum-like quality and notes of Bas Armagnac distilled circa 1940.
Rich. Liqueur cherries in dark chocolate, more sherried fruit, ripe dark forest fruits, like a Black Forest Gateaux.
Superb, led by thick dark treacle and toffee notes and chewy wooded notes, balanced with a green fruit edge.

The oak and sherry here is balanced beautifully, a lifetime classic for me.
Just trying a dram and it is very smooth. The cherry dipped in chocolate and black forest gateau descriptors are spot on. I usually add water just to take the edge of whisky, no need with this.
Reminds me of cee-lo Green in a crushed velvet smoking jacket quoting Lesley Phillips whilst being force fed black forest gateaux. Smooth, deep and brash.

I was tired of the usual suspects and gave this a try. I really like it. complex on the nose and flavors meld I to a balanced finish.
