A Lowland single malt matured in 3 different casks, namely: Pedro Ximénez Sherry casks, bourbon casks and Oloroso Sherry casks. A distinctive triple distilled whisky from Auchentoshan.
Cooked fruit, sherry, toffee, a rum-like quality and notes of Bas Armagnac distilled circa 1940.
Rich. Liqueur cherries in dark chocolate, more sherried fruit, ripe dark forest fruits, like a Black Forest Gateaux.
Superb, led by thick dark treacle and toffee notes and chewy wooded notes, balanced with a green fruit edge.

Exquisite, did not expect this flavour, now one of my favouritesThe taste stays with you.
This is a scotch that doesn't have a lot of surprises, it is more complex than the 12 year, but it doesn't quite have that special quality that would make me want to go out and buy a bottle. Certainly an enjoyable scotch to try.
Has a rum like smell, nail polish remover, thick chocolate ganash, sherry, green apples, blackberry, toffee. Smooth on palate, no real after burn. Nice bottle.
In my Opinion it is very similar to Bushmills 16 Three Wood. But I tried both and like the Auchentoshan much more. The sweetness and hints of cinnamon, the lemon and the deep sherry are a very very very interesting combination. Im lucky to have this bottle in my house
The first thing that appealed to me in this Auchentoshan was it's dark, mahogany-like color. Beautiful. Swirling this drink around with my nose in the glass, I sensed lots of subtle wood tones, cloaked with sweetness coming from the fruits. Swirling this drink around my mouth, the drying sherry flavour reveals itself. It's elegant, it's rich. After all this, the finish stays pretty long and is ever so drying. Auchentoshan produced a great whisky!
