Auchentoshan
Scotland
Single Malt
Auchentoshan's Springwood expression, which spends its maturation resting in American oak bourbon casks, was released for travel retail. Rich in vanilla and orange, this is a flavoursome Lowland single malt, from a top distillery that triple distils its whisky.
Light and fragrant with classic bourbon-cask vanilla and honey, with hints of orange oil shining through.
Chocolatey on the palate, with continued vanilla fudge and citrus peels.
A rather refreshing palate of lemon and orange.
Fabulous! Essence of orange with hints of chocolate flecked throughout. Awaft of smoe and a flick of salt and pepper and more spring river run deep in the woods. A dram to revive a tired man.
Enjoyable
Just purchased a bottle on my way through Singapore, and won't be finishing it. Very little character, zero nose, finish reminds me of orange flavored vodkas. All around a disappointing bottle. Don't bother
I have heard of this as having "clean spirit". If that means no flavour apart from ethanol it is pretty close. Some citrus peel on the nose and palate, apart from that, very little. Triple distilled to get rid of the higher alcohols and ketones (and flavour) and not long in wood to gain any complexity or flavour there. Save your money.
I made the awful mistake of buying it. Doesn't taste of anything. I can only taste a watered citrus. Very closed: no nose, no taste, no finish. AVOID!
