Sample the glory of Lowland single malts with this excellent single cask expression from the Auchentoshan distillery, independently bottled by your friends here at Master of Malt. It was distilled in November 1993 and bottled in March 2018 after 24 years of maturation.
Moss, earth and antique oak aromas balance lively sweet notes of cola cubes, orange soda and cinnamon gum. More succulent elements from warm buttery popcorn, golden cereals and Galaxy Honeycomb Crisp round things off, along with a sprig of mint leaf.
Apricot yoghurt, creamy vanilla and a hint of butterscotch are tempered by prickles of ginger spice. Sandalwood and bitter herbs form the backdrop.
Nuttier tones emerge in a lengthy, malty finish.
Plenty of welcome distillery character and a couple of pleasant surprises makes this a winner.

There are not a lot of well priced malts in this series, but this is just crazy good value for money of you can appreciate a well aged lowlander. We need more bottlings like this! Shame the 1991 costs 100 more euros...
Probably the best single cask I’ve ever tasted or owned. Part of me wishes I’d never opened it, but the devil in me had to try it. Worth every pennny out of a Scotsman’s wallet. Shame that bottle No. 033 is now below halfway, but the glass half full of my character still believes I have more than a half bottle left! Amber nectar is an understatement and injustice to this fine whisky ?. Longing to try another from this fine distillery.
