Auchentoshan
Scotland
Single Malt
Lowland distillery Auchentoshan's flagship single malt whisky, famously triple-distilled which is unusual for a Scotch. This contributes to its signature smooth character, however. It's been matured in both American oak and sherry casks.
A cereal-sweet nose with notes of guava and mango, with a drizzle of honey.
Oaky and sweet palate, with barley sugar, a little passion fruit and vanilla custard too. Perhaps some rose petal jelly in there.
A lengthy, dry and oaky finish with barley sweetness and cocoa powder.
Good Scotch very smooth easy drinking for anytime.
Delicate scotch, doesn't blast your nose out. My wife loves it and it keeps her out of the Glenfiddich 18.
Very mild but by no means bad. Shocked to read reviews that say "bitter" maybe they should stick to apple juice? It's a bit over priced I'd say.
A good daily dram to be sure. Nose: Oranges, some toffee and vanilla. Creamsicle anyone? Palette: Youthful. More oranges and vanilla, nuts, and mild smoke. Dry, medium length oaky finish. Good bang for your buck!
I'm no pro as a Scotch drinker, but what I love about the good ones I drink-- Glen Morangie, Glenfiddish, Glen Livet, Laphroige (smokier than I prefer but it fits the comment) etc is that they have a strong, distinct, take your breath away kind of taste. I love that. This one is bland--very easy drinking but meh, just not much to it. Oh, well, I'll go back to the others and enjoy it all the more.
