“Fresh bourbon on the nose, fresh wood sap and wood shavings. Kiwis, lime, lemon peels. Honey melon. Gooseberries. Rhubarb and green ferns. Sugary sweet. Vanilla pods. Thick yogurt note. Icing sugar. Pears on the palate. Oloroso. Altogether very woody and aromatic, very fresh and citrus y, very green, and certainly very delicious. Reminds me of a Dailuaine. A more than pleasant surprise! Happy Burns' Night!”

Nose

Apple peels, a little pear juice, hints of coconut and apple blossom. Develops with custard and cinnamon.

Palate

Fruity and rich, vanilla, pannacotta, apple and lime peel.

Finish

Apple strudel and cinnamon on the finish.

Overall

A very tasty whisky from Arran.

Our neighbour brought over a bottle of of Robert Burns single malt he had purchased in Bordeaux for me to taste. I didn't know the brand but greatly enjoyed the tasting, A distinctive flavour although quite different to the malts of Islay,which I have enjoyed since holidaying there. Now another malt to add to my favourites.

First dram my wife likes

I got a bottle of Robert Burns as a Christmas present. Since I collect single malt whisky, I was awfully glad to get this new taste. My wife, who never liked whisky before, is sharing the bottle with me at the moment, be it with wee sips. Great dram, fresh and fruity. We both love the finish. Try it with a wee chunk of chocolate. It enforces the vanilla taste.
