    Single Malt

    Arran Machrie Moor

The limited edition batches of Arran's peated Machrie Moor single malt have proved very popular indeed. So popular, in fact, that the distillery on the eponymous island has made the decision to add it to its permanent range! Ideal!

The name for this expression comes from a mysterious peat bog on the western side of the island. Not only will you find peat at Machrie Moor, but stone circles too - one of which was apparently used by a giant to tether its dog to. Hence the dog on the label (its name is Bran).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

    Nose

Peppery malt with a hint of baked earth sneaking in there. Balanced by orchard fruit and eucalyptus.

    Palate

A burst of lychee juice as it opens, before waves of dry smoke and cut grass appear.

    Finish

    Lingering orange zest and lemongrass.

    Nice bit of Paint Sriper

Yes I can see why some consumers would call this Paint striper.....after drinking something like a red wine But all I can say ...is stop drinking Red wine Yes it's peaty almost like an Islay & it's pretty good

A good start to the evening, an even better finish to one!

A loverly drop, so good I came back for another bottle! Heavy phenols to the nose; light on the pallette. A little old school toffee crack on the finish.

    Paint stripper

Nose, pallette and after taste awful. Also ironic the use of a dog logo on the only non dog friendly distillery out of the 11 visited on the Islands.

    Loverly

A tasty tipple I tried on a whim. Good bottle, nice tube, and impressive whisky. Strong iodine and salt, big but subtle smokiness. It's kind of like a refined laphroaig; still got a punch but tempered.

    NHS whisky

Vile. Maybe it was just my bottle but it tasted of hospital. I literally threw this down the sink after two attempts to get past the overpowering smell and taste of institutional cleaning products.
